A drive through the wintry woods

Not really, but it looked like it.

I had a foggy drive through Utah’s Sardine Canyon yesterday, then entered a mist-shrouded and snowy Logan.

For nearly the past year, I’ve been driving this route two hours from home, to tend my grandson one day every other week.

I’ve seen the the canyon through different seasons.

In the spring, the mountains are covered with budding green.

In the summer, yellow flowers cover large patches like swaths of happiness.

Fall was my favorite, an ever-changing show of blazing colors for weeks.

I took a break for the holidays, and now I’m back to the occasional drive. I looked forward to seeing what the canyon is like in the winter.

With the fog, the mountains weren’t visible. The spotlight was on the bare-limbed trees along the river instead.

It was a nice change of perspective.

What is it they say? Don’t lose sight of the forest for the trees?

Sometimes we can lose sight of the trees for the forest.
