How I ended up being an extra in ‘Fallout’
My husband and I watched the first episode of Fallout on Amazon Prime the other night. It was so cool to see the scene where I was an extra. (56:53 in episode 1). Fallout’s premise is interesting with a lot of twists and turns from the get-go. Warning: The show deserves its MA rating.
Let me tell you a bit about how I ended up being an extra.
Our local Chamber of Commerce put out a call for extras September of 2022. I think I saw it on Facebook. The post said a post-Apocalyptic TV show was filming in Wendover September 13 to 17 and they were looking for extras, ages 9 to 40s. Code name for the film was “Hondo.”
I am quoting the call for extras verbatim, including no punctuation. The italicization is mine:
𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘕𝘖𝘛 𝘏𝘈𝘝𝘌 𝘈𝘕𝘠 𝘗𝘙𝘖𝘉𝘓𝘌𝘔𝘚 𝘞𝘐𝘛𝘏 𝘛𝘏𝘌 𝘏𝘈𝘐𝘙𝘊𝘜𝘛𝘚
𝘍𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘕𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘣𝘢𝘥 𝘤𝘶𝘵𝘴 (𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘣𝘢𝘥 𝘩𝘢𝘪𝘳𝘤𝘶𝘵𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘤𝘶𝘵𝘴, 𝘦𝘵𝘤)
I told my family and they all encouraged me to go for it. My son-in-law, who is a very smart guy, googled and said, “Looks like it might be for a tv series adaptation of a video game called Fallout.” Which meant nothing to me, but the post-Apoc aspect really intrigued me.
