My mother had declined during the first months of the pandemic and I had no idea. I thought I was keeping her safe by not visiting and just calling / Zooming. I finally clued in when I went to her house and her sink was overflowing with dirty dishes and ants. A few months later, just shortly after she turned 80, she passed. The pandemic and the isolation was hard for a lot of older people and families like mine.
